Spa Therapist (with Spa certificate)

It is the Spa Therapist’s responsibility to ensure the environment and treatment delivery is in line with The Spa standards. She/he is responsible for performing a variety of facial, body and massage techniques and treatments in an engaging and professional manner, fulfilling the guest’s needs.

She/he attains outstanding knowledge and communication skills to deliver treatments in accordance with guest service standards.

  1. To ensure consistent guest service excellence by providing spa services and treatments according to spa standards and accepted certification practices in combination with guest’s needs.
  2. Develop and maintain professional relationships with spa guests and handle guest enquiries in a courteous manner.
  3. Actively promote the spa (treatment, home care, philosophy) as well as programs and services within the Spa & Wellness Department.
  4. Communicate to manager any and all occurrences involving staff or guests that require attention.
  5. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
  6. Be on time on for duty, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
  7. Acknowledge and respond to relevant guest queries, needs and expectations.
  8. Updating documentation and consultation forms with consistency.
  9. Maintain equipment, linen, fresh produce and product inventory and usage according to set standards.
  10. Maintaining and preparing spa areas and rooms according to set standards.
  11. Ensuring all set-up and preparation according to standard ensuring optimal flow and service delivery.
  12. Perform other related duties that may be assigned.
  13. Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the operations.
  14. Maintains highest levels of personal hygiene and grooming at all times, as per The Datai standard.
  15. To be knowledgeable of the contraindications of services and products and act in accordance.
  16. To conduct regular daily inspections to monitor maintenance, cleanliness and hygiene of Spa areas, in accordance with the Health, Safety and Hygiene Legislation and Spa Standards.
  17. To be fully conversant with all health and safety, fire and emergency procedures.
  18. To ensure that good practice is applied to all issues in relation to employees and ensure that all Resort HR policies and procedures are followed.
  19. To maintain and implement the reporting procedures and control system established by the Resort.
  20. To support an effective structure for communication within the Spa at all levels.
  21. To ensure that channels of communication are respected, and information is disseminated to the correct receivers.
  22. To attend and contribute positively to briefings/meetings.
  23. To be always courteous to other team members.
  24. Attends and participates in training facilitated by both Learning & Development as well as Spa ensuring standards are maintained and knowledge of job function is improved.
  25. To implement The Datai’s environmental policies by participating and improving sustainable practices and ethics.
  26. Knowledge of the facilities and services provided by the Resort.
  27. At all times to project a favorable image of The Spa & Wellness Team to the rest of the resort.
  28. At all times to project a favorable image of The Datai Resorts to the public.
  29. Handles any guest’s complaint in a professional manner, as per resort’s Policy & Procedure (service recovery).
  30. Exhibits outstanding knowledge of the resort, island, Langkawi culture.
  31. Knows and applies the resort’s Policies & Procedures, including those for emergency situations.
  32. Demonstrates knowledge and interest in goals, and objectives of The Datai’s brand.
  33. Ensures all activities are carried out honestly, ethically and within the parameters of the Malaysian Law.
