Senior Project Electrical Engineer (Data Center)

Company Background:

Our client is an established multinational company specializing in energy and automation field across industries such as buildings, data centres, infrastructure, and etc. Currently they are looking for a Senior Project Electrical Engineer (for Data Center Project) to be based in Selangor.

Overall Job Purpose:

You will act as the primary technical contact for a few targeted global key accounts, while also leading the technical tendering and execution of major datacenter projects.

You will coordinate international engineering teams, define standardized solutions, influence customer technical strategies, and ensure the successful delivery of high‑quality, robust, and scalable electrical and integrated solutions. Also leading complex global technical strategies, driving standardization, and guiding multidisciplinary teams.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Global Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the global technical point of contact for assigned Internet Giant accounts.
  • Understand customer technical drivers (cost, lead time, robustness, sustainability, scalability, etc.) to anticipate and shape future solutions.
  • Stay well connected with Line of Businesses to remain up to date on new equipment, systems, and technology evolutions.
  • Proactively recommend technical concepts and enhancements before RFQs are issued.
  • Lead the design and standardization of new or enhanced global solutions to be deployed across all regions/countries.
  • Develop complete technical design packages to enable knowledge transfer globally.
  • Ensure standardized solutions are consistently applied across all tenders, driving efficiency and global alignment.
  • Act as main technical contact throughout tendering and execution.
  • Collect lessons learned and best practices across projects to continuously improve global solutions.
2. Technical Leadership for Tenders & Execution Projects
  • Lead and approve basic and detailed technical design for integrated MV/LV, UPS, busway, cooling, EPMS, BMS, transformers, and e‑house solutions.
  • Ensure all technical deliverables meet customer requirements and company governance (quality, safety, cybersecurity, robustness).
  • Oversee engineering activities from design development through FAT, SAT, prototype testing, and project closure.
  • Optimize designs using SE’s product and solution portfolio to improve profitability and reduce technical risks.
3. Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Work closely with Tender Managers, Sales, Project Managers, engineering teams, factories, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Lead technical coordination of all project stakeholders across global regions.
  • Identify the need for expert support and coordinate specialized engineering contributions.
  • Serve as the single technical point of contact for customers and internal teams.
4. Risk, Opportunity, & Change Management
  • Identify technical risks, opportunities, and deviations from contract or agreed design.
  • Support project leads in specifying change impacts and obtaining variation orders.
  • Drive resolution of major technical issues throughout tendering and execution.
5. Customer Engagement
  • Lead all technical discussions, workshops, and clarifications with customers.
  • Build trusted long-term relationships and secure customer buy‑in at key technical milestones.
6. Quality, Methods, Tools & Standardization
  • Drive standardization of technical solutions and processes across all assigned accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with company engineering processes, quality standards, and governance principles.
  • Lead corrections of technical or quality issues during execution.
7. Community of Practice, Coaching & Knowledge Sharing
  • Contribute to global and regional Communities of Practice and Technical Excellence networks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, datacenter architectures, and emerging technologies.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or relevant Engineering field.
  • More than 7 years leading technical scopes in customer projects or MV/LV electrical distribution leadership roles.
