We are recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to join a highly respected, independent freight forwarder. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of multi‑site warehouse and logistics operations within a fast‑paced, international environment.

The Opportunity

You will oversee operations across two busy freight forwarding facilities, ensuring seamless cargo flow across air, sea, and road freight.

This position combines leadership, operational oversight, and commercial awareness, with the expectation of occasional hands‑on involvement to support service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi‑Site Leadership
    • Lead and coordinate operations across two warehouse sites
    • Balance labour, equipment, and storage capacity based on demand
    • Maintain a visible leadership presence and consistent operational standards
    • Provide operational support during peak periods when required
  • Warehouse & Cargo Operation
    • Oversee handling of general, hazardous, temperature‑controlled, and high‑value cargo
    • Ensure compliance with aviation security, bonded warehouse requirements, and industry regulations
    • Monitor KPIs including throughput, turnaround times, and accuracy
  • Logistics & Transport
    • Manage inbound and outbound transport planning and coordination
    • Develop strong relationships with carriers and logistics partners
    • Optimise cost efficiency and service reliability
  • Inventory & Customs Compliance
    • Maintain accurate stock control across ETSF and non‑bonded cargo
    • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and audit requirements
    • Work closely with customs teams on clearances and documentation
  • People Management
    • Lead, develop, and motivate teams across both sites
    • Manage staffing levels, shift planning, and performance reviews
    • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

    • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and health & safety legislation
    • Maintain SOPs, risk assessments, and audit readiness
    • Drive a proactive safety culture

    • Identify inefficiencies and implement operational improvements
    • Support system enhancements and digitalisation initiatives
    • Contribute to budgeting, cost control, and long‑term logistics strategy

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in warehouse or logistics management within freight forwarding
  • Strong knowledge of customs processes, bonded warehousing, and international freight documentation
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with WMS/ERP systems and data‑driven decision making
  • A hands‑on approach with the ability to support operational activities when required

Qualifications

  • Valid FLT certification (essential)
  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or similar ()
  • Industry certifications such as IATA, aviation security, or customs training (advantageous)
  • Professional memberships beneficial

Working Environment

  • Full‑time, site‑based role
  • Core hours Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm (flexibility required)
  • Regular presence across both warehouse facilities
  • Occasional travel to ports, airports, and customer sites
  • Responsibility for out‑of‑hours operational decisions
  • Key holder responsibilities and security oversight

Compliance Requirements

  • 5‑year continuous employment history required
  • Must pass a DBS/CRC check
  • Compliance with all regulatory standards is essential
