We’re focused on purpose-driven work, and strongly believe what’s good for pets, people and our planet is good for Petco.</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><b>Essential Job Functions</b></p><ul><li><span>Working with the Vice President, Logistics & Distribution and the Directors, of Domestic Transportation and International Logistics and appropriate Finance personnel, incumbent will lead the physical assimilation of information and data to build and validate the annual transportation budgets.  Duties will include the organizational process of review of history, rationalize the proposed expenditures versus requirements, insure any capital expense charges are included or considered in the annual process, all pro-forma report design for defining the impact of proposed budget to current and prior year budgets and dissemination of information back to the field for review, check-offs and budget utilization.  Incumbent will be the primary person to go to for review and validation of annual plan numbers defined in the budget.</span></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><span>Incumbent will be responsible for the weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual review of actual performance versus plan and/or budget.  This will include location specific variance reporting and identification of favorable or unfavorable variances.  In addition, all future projections will be reviewed through this position, quantified and then reviewed with the Vice President, Logistics & Distribution, the Directors of Domestic Transportation and International Logistics.  Incumbent will do any additional analysis or report generation as directed by the Vice President, Logistics & Distribution or the Directors of Domestic Transportation and International Logistics to validate, substantiate or “what-if” involved financial numbers, projects, capital projects or logistics analysis as requested.</span></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><span>Responsible for the proper application of rates, accessorial charges, incremental charges and establishment and accuracy of all pertinent data needed to effectively and efficiently operate the Transportation Management System.  Main control point (Super User) for all input information in the TMS system and its accuracy and the day-to-day operation of the TMS.</span></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><span>Analyze and determine appropriate terms of sale and corresponding reductions in cost of goods sold to offset the cost of transportation in the conversion of terms of sale from “delivered” or “prepaid & add” to the desired level of F.O.B. Origin and that proper procedures and processes are in place to assure that proper charges and credits are gained through these changes in terms of freight charges.   These processes will be in compliance with financial GAAP rules and processes as well as Sarbanes-Oxley procedures and requirements.  All processes to be performed accurately and timely within the requirements of the rules, processes and law.</span></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><span>Interface with senior management to determine analytic and reporting needs.  Define the needs to identify the sources and recommend action to accomplish objectives.  Incumbent will be responsible to assure that Logistics & Distribution Directors comply with defined time lines on budget and reporting timeliness and to assure accuracy and compliance with defined deadlines and set goals.</span></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><span>Prepare and publish measurements that support key metrics.  Incumbent will be responsible for all department transportation reporting and presentation of information to appropriate department members, financial associates, senior management and other appropriate individuals as directed by the Vice President, Logistics & Distribution or by the Directors, Domestic Transportation and International Logistics.</span></li></ul><p></p><ul><li><span>Oversee and/or provide proper training of transportation procedures and applications to new hires ensuring procedures are being followed consistently in accordance with established guidelines.
