These individuals facilitate Zoom-based sessions by managing the virtual environment, supporting participants, and ensuring that transcripts are captured accurately.</p> <p>This role provides a flexible earning opportunity with remote work and self-directed hours. If you are a notary in another state, please refer to our careers page for your specific location, as we frequently expand our network.</em></p> <br><br><p></p> <p></p><p><br></p><b>Responsibilities</b><h2><strong>Procedural Execution & Facilitation</strong></h2> <ul> <li> <p><strong>Opening & Closing the Record: </strong>Manage the formal commencement and conclusion of the audio/video record by conducting read-ons and read-offs, ensuring adherence to California procedures.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Script Adherence:</strong>. Conduct proceedings in accordance with established procedural scripts and legal prompts to maintain consistency and accuracy across sessions. Upon contractor’s request, Filevine will provide sample scripts at no additional cost. </p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Court Reporter Collaboration: </strong>Work closely and collaboratively with Court Reporters, including coordinating session handoffs and confirming participant readiness before going off or resuming the audio/visual record.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Administrative Boundaries: </strong>Respect procedural boundaries by only logging required administrative data, as final orders remain the responsibility of the Court Reporter.</p> </li> </ul> <h2><strong>Technical Management</strong></h2> <ul> <li> <p><strong>Virtual Environment Oversight: </strong>Supervise the virtual Zoom environment, managing breakout rooms, screen sharing, and participant framing.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Technical Support: </strong>Address real-time technical issues for attendees to ensure a seamless experience throughout the proceeding.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Quality Assurance: </strong>Monitor audio and video conditions to safeguard the record for transcription and legal purposes.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Branding & Presence: </strong>Maintain professional standards by managing Zoom display names and introducing yourself appropriately.</p> </li> </ul> <h2><strong>Administrative & Logistical Support</strong></h2> <ul> <li> <p><strong>Session Preparation: </strong>Prepare for sessions by reviewing deposition notices, providing documentation to the Court Reporter, and alerting Filevine of delays, if any.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Attendance & Record Keeping: </strong>Ensure accurate record-keeping by collecting attendee details, maintaining precise timestamps throughout each session,  managing on/off-the-record transitions, and handling procedural steps that support a seamless legal process.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Communication: </strong>Facilitate the flow of proceedings with professional and clear communication for all parties involved.</p> </li> <li> <p><strong>Administer oaths: </strong>administer oaths for remote and/or virtual proceedings when needed.</p> </li> <li><strong>Outcome Reporting: </strong>Track event results accurately and close out administrative scripts once the questioning phase has concluded.</li> </ul><p><br></p><b>Qualifications</b><div> <ul> <li> <p>Active Notary Public commission in the State of California (required).</p> </li> <li> <p>Technological proficiency with strong experience navigating Zoom features and virtual meetings.</p> </li> <li> <p>Reliable internet connection and a dedicated, professional workspace.</p> </li> <li> <p>Access to a video-enabled computer with modern software capabilities.</p> </li> <li> <p>Outstanding communication and organizational abilities.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to follow scripts accurately while adapting to live proceedings.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to work during standard business hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM PT).</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiarity with standard video conferencing platforms.</p> </li> </ul> <strong>Bonus: </strong>Previous experience in the legal sector or court reporting workflows.</div><p><br></p><p></p> <p> </p><h2><strong>Important Note</strong></h2> <p>The Videographer will not be required to administer oaths at deposition events where a court reporter is also in attendance; this remains the responsibility of the Court Reporter.
